Daily Thought

"To you parents, express your love to your children.  Pray for them that they may be able to withstand the evils of the world.  Pray that they may grow in faith and testimony.  Pray that they may pursue lives of goodness and of service to others."

Daily Scripture

Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to forgive one another; for he that forgiveth not his brother his trespasses standeth condemned before the Lord; for there remaineth in him the greater sin.

The Book of Mormon... Another Testament of Jesus Christ - PMG 5
Diane Adair - April 24, 2012

 Quotes - PMG 5
 Diane Adair

"Father! Mother!... you do not know how happy I am.  The Lord has caused the plates to be shown to three more besides me, who have also seen an angel and will have to testify to the truth of what I have said, for they know for themselves that I do not go about to deceive the people.  And I do feel as though I was relieved of a dreadful burden which was almost too much for me to endure.  But they will now have to bear a part and it does rejoice my soul that I am no longer to be entirely alone in the world."
Joseph Smith

"The tree of life is the love of God.  The love of God is most profoundly expressed in His gift of Jesus as our Redeemer…To partake of the love of God is to partake of Jesus' Atonement and the freedom and joys which it can bring."
Neal A. Maxwell

"Fruit of tree is a symbol for the blessings of the Savior's Atonement."  David A. Bednar

"The tree of life and its precious fruit are symbols of Christ's redemption."   Jeffrey R. Holland

"Mercy drenches the Plan of Salvation."   Neal A. Maxwell

"The Savior warned that in the last days even those of the covenant, the very elect, could be deceived by the enemy of truth. If we think of this as a form of spiritual destruction, it may cast light on another latter-day prophecy. Think of the heart as the figurative center of our faith, the poetic location of our loyalties and our values; then consider Jesus' declaration that in the last days “men’s hearts [shall fail] them.”

The encouraging thing, of course, is that our Father in Heaven knows all of these latter-day dangers, these troubles of the heart and soul, and has given counsel and protections regarding them.

In light of that, it has always been significant to me that the Book of Mormon, one of the Lord’s powerful keystones in this counteroffensive against latter-day ills, begins with a great parable of life, an extended allegory of hope versus fear, of light versus darkness, of salvation versus destruction.

In Lehi’s dream an already difficult journey gets more difficult when a mist of darkness arises, obscuring any view of the safe but narrow path his family and others are to follow. It is imperative to note that this mist of darkness descends on all the travelers—the faithful and the determined ones (the elect, we might even say) as well as the weaker and ungrounded ones. The principal point of the story is that the successful travelers resist all distractions, including the lure of forbidden paths and jeering taunts from the vain and proud who have taken those paths. The record says that the protected “did press their way forward, continually [and, I might add, tenaciously] holding fast” to a rod of iron that runs unfailingly along the course of the true path. However dark the night or the day, the rod marks the way of that solitary, redeeming trail."
Jeffrey R. Holland; Ensign, Nov. 2009 - "Safety for the Soul

"Love. Healing. Help. Hope. The power of Christ to counter all troubles in all times—including the end of times. That is the safe harbor God wants for us in personal or public days of despair. That is the message with which the Book of Mormon begins, and that is the message with which it ends, calling all to “come unto Christ, and be perfected in him.” That phrase—taken from Moroni’s final lines of testimony, written 1,000 years after Lehi’s vision—is a dying man’s testimony of the only true way.

May I refer to a modern “last days” testimony? When Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum started for Carthage to face what they knew would be an imminent martyrdom, Hyrum read these words to comfort the heart of his brother:

“Thou hast been faithful; wherefore … thou shalt be made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place which I have prepared in the mansions of my Father.

“And now I, Moroni, bid farewell … until we shall meet before the judgment-seat of Christ.”

A few short verses from the 12th chapter of Ether in the Book of Mormon. Before closing the book, Hyrum turned down the corner of the page from which he had read, marking it as part of the everlasting testimony for which these two brothers were about to die."  Jeffrey R. Holland; Ensign, Nov. 2009 - "Safety for the Soul

"As one of a thousand elements of my own testimony of the divinity of the Book of Mormon, I submit this as yet one more evidence of its truthfulness. In this their greatest—and last—hour of need, I ask you: would these men blaspheme before God by continuing to fix their lives, their honor, and their own search for eternal salvation on a book (and by implication a church and a ministry) they had fictitiously created out of whole cloth?

Never mind that their wives are about to be widows and their children fatherless. Never mind that their little band of followers will yet be “houseless, friendless and homeless” and that their children will leave footprints of blood across frozen rivers and an untamed prairie floor.9 Never mind that legions will die and other legions live declaring in the four quarters of this earth that they know the Book of Mormon and the Church which espouses it to be true. Disregard all of that, and tell me whether in this hour of death these two men would enter the presence of their Eternal Judge quoting from and finding solace in a book which, if not the very word of God, would brand them as imposters and charlatans until the end of time? They would not do that! They were willing to die rather than deny the divine origin and the eternal truthfulness of the Book of Mormon."
Jeffrey R. Holland; Ensign, Nov. 2009 - "Safety for the Soul

"I testify that one cannot come to full faith in this latter-day work—and thereby find the fullest measure of peace and comfort in these, our times—until he or she embraces the divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom it testifies."
Jeffrey R. Holland; Ensign, Nov. 2009 - "Safety for the Soul"

How Do I Find People to Teach - Preach My Gospel 9
Morrissa Rich - April 17, 2012

Notes from Preach My Gospel, Lesson 9

“How Do I Find People to Teach?”

“Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? “And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
Luke 15: 8-9

“To missionaries traveling on the Missouri River, the Lord said, “’It is not needful for…mine elders to be moving swiftly…whilst the inhabitants on either side are perishing in unbelief.”’ As you move swiftly to planned activities, pray for the ability to see unplanned opportunities to serve and share the Gospel with those who may be “perishing in unbelief”’
PMG p. 156

“Have you noticed in your ward or neighborhood that there might be one who needs to be lifted, to be touched; whose life is perhaps drifting off in a direction that we know will not bring about happiness, peace, and contentment? What can you do about it? What should you do about it?
From Elder Russel M. Ballard, “Taking Time to Care” New Era, October 1986

“May I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration.”
 M. Russell Ballard, “Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet,” Ensign, Jul 2008, 58–63

Our most important missionary work is in our family.
“We labor diligently … to persuade our children … to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God.… We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” 2 Nephi 25:23, 26
Elder David F. Evans, “Was It Worth It?”, Ensign, May 2012
Elder Daivid F. Evans, Was It Worth It? Conference Address April 2012

How can we persuade our children to believe in Christ?
-  Teach them the principles and doctrines of the Gospel
-  Be faithful ourselves Attend church with our family
-  Hold family home evening and read scriptures together
-  Pray daily and accept callings
-  Visit the sick and lonely Write letters which bear testimony
-  Show love and forgiveness in our parenting

Christi Jardine, Report to SIS about her family sharing the Gospel, April 17, 2010
• Pray for and be aware of opportunities to share the “good news” of the Gospel.
• Act on spiritual promptings.
• Listen sincerely to what people say to you.
• Look for common interests to help you know how to talk with people.
• Talk to people about their families. Help them see how the restored gospel can be a blessing to their families.
• Be warm, friendly, and cheerful. Invite them to your home.
• Trust the Spirit to put into your heart and mind what you should say and do.
• Extend love regardless of outcomes.
• Take heart! God is in charge and knows and loves his children better than we do.

What does Heavenly Father do all day
Diane Adair - April 10, 2012

                                                          QUOTES PMG - 3
                                                               Diane Adair

"The redeeming presence of our loving Father-God in the universe is the grand
fact pertaining to the human condition."
 Neal A. Maxwell

"Spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and
accepted His plan by which His children could progress toward perfection and
ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. While this
precious, vital message has been proclaimed across the world, Satan has been
most effective in causing people to ignore it or to look in the wrong places for
it. The vast majority of Father's children have not only forgotten their Father in
Heaven, they rarely even think of Him nor ponder for what purpose they are here
in mortality. Don't you make that mistake. It is not sufficient to have a vague
understanding of truth or the reality of the Father and His Son, our Savior. Each
of us must come to know who they really are. You must feel how very much
They love you."
 Richard G. Scott

"Knowledge of the plan is essential to using agency wisely."
 Boyd K. Packer

"The best defense against Satan is to know the plan."
  Jeffrey R. Holland

Daily Scripture

And now, behold, my beloved brethren, I suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that which ye should do after ye have entered in by the way. But, behold, why do ye ponder these things in your hearts?

Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost?

Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

Members Invited to Share Testimonies in Easter Weekend Internet Campaign

This Friday, April 6, 2012, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world are invited to participate in the launch of a major Internet campaign to testify of Jesus Christ and share their beliefs about the Savior during the Easter weekend.

On Friday morning, the Church will launch three days (April 6–8) of short advertisements on YouTube and Facebook aimed at helping those who are not members of the Church understand that Mormons believe in and follow Jesus Christ.

Church members are invited to be involved with the campaign in several ways:

  1. Tell family and friends about the campaign and encourage them to tell others. Encourage family and friends to participate by visiting mormon.org/easter or facebook.com/mormon this weekend.
  2. Encourage family and friends to look for the YouTube ads and visit mormon.org/easter.
  3. On Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, visit mormon.org/easter and share your feelings about Jesus Christ.

“We believe this will be a unique opportunity for Church members to engage in conversations with those not of our faith about the importance of Jesus Christ in the lives of God’s children,” a letter from the
 Church Missionary Department reads
