President Bailey's Message

Over Father’s Day weekend I was in Los Angeles with my son Ryan. I had a package to mail, so we made a trip to the neighborhood Post Office. When we walked in and got in line, I looked at the three employees working each window and saw which one I hoped I’d get and (perhaps human nature took over) I decided quickly in my mind which I hoped not to get. As luck would have it, the window of my third choice was open when I was at the front of the line. To my great surprise and pleasure, this lady turned out to be the nicest Postal employee I have ever talked to. Her smile was radiant, her voice pleasant, she was helpful and made a cost saving suggestion. I had totally misjudged her! When we wrapped up the transaction, she thanked me for coming into the Post Office that morning and wished me a great day. I left happier and in a better mood than when we arrived – how many times has that ever happened to you after a visit to the Post Office?!!!

I was taught a great lesson on not judging a book by its cover. We are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father, which means, everyone walking the earth are our brothers and sisters. It is really important for all of us to treat each other kindly and be helpful every chance we get. As we go about our day and interact with other people, take advantage of the opportunity to say something nice and wish them well. I think the people that behave like this naturally, are naturally happier themselves, and life, for the most part, is a better and more pleasant experience for them.

We, as a Stake Presidency, are so grateful for the love and charity our Relief Society sisters have for each other and the respect you have for the priesthood of God. This is a great Stake to live in and serve and raise a family! Have a fun and safe summer!
